One of my father’s favourite walks, and a nice Sunday morning walk ending by a drink in the pub or sandwich in the café at Malham. Its also a nice run on the motorbike. For us we travel through Skipton and onto Gargrave, then follow the signpost to Malham and enjoy the run through the limestone country, through Airton and Kirby Malham. Drive up the road to Malham Tarn and into the Tarn Car park (go early for this – mind you, early Sunday is good as well as out-of season on a nice day). It can be quite cold (it has been the times I have been there so I always take another layer just in case even on a sunny day).

So, from take the path north, and then take the left path round the edge of the tarn and you can follow the path through two gates, a wood and along to Tarn House. Turn left round the house and follow this, the Pennine Way with the tarn on your left. Walk along walled lane and then turn left and then straight ahead on the Malham Road. Walk up past the conference centre to the crossroads and then turn left again to car park. Basically you are just walking round the tarn and lovely views there are too. You can reward yourself with a Malham cup of tea !
